Yes, it is too easy for our personal information to be shared due to Internet technology.
You are required to give us the information when you fill out the application form
(such as your name, address, phone number, e-mail, etc.) However, we are very careful with your personal information.
Once we receive your application form, we translate it into Korean and get rid of the original form right away.
As we have mentioned in our privacy policy we assure you
that we will take any legal responsibilities due to the exposure & damage of personal information.
Our program is targeted for students 10~15 years of age.
It may not be a problem that your children are somewhat younger or older than the students.
Through our experience, however, similarity in age would produce much more effective results.
They could have the same interests, likes, and dislikes, or something else in common.
For the family with different age groups of children, for example, 5, 7, 12, 15 years old, it is no problem.
For those with children who are aged 5~7, it would be difficult for us to send any student,
because we discourage trips for Korean students who are younger than 10 years of age.
Of course, you do. When we review your application form,
we carefully select the students based on their sex and age. We make sure we meet your requests.
If we are unable to do so, we will get your permission ahead of time.
There are two methods in teaching English. First,
we have the basic lesson plan and resources on our site. This is a general guideline for you to follow.
It is being used to teach English to Korean students in Korea as well and shown to be quite effective.
Depending on your style, you may link to other sites.
You could also get some tips from the families who had taught Korean students before.
Most Korean parents expect the host families to treat the student the same way they would treat their own children.
Please Do Not treat them any better just because they are exchange students.
Keep in mind that they are just children. Some students can be spoiled, neglect doing homework,
and may try to test you to see if they could get away from certain problems.
You are welcome to punish them as you would punish your own child and make sure they follow the house rule.
You don't have to worry about Korean parents. Rather, they ask you to punish the child severely if they don't listen!
Don't hesitate to call for help. We may give you some helpful tips or solve cultural problems.
In case of emergency situation,
the best thing to do is to find another homeschooling family that the student can go to.
We may have other possibilities from the applications we have received.
Of course, you would need to inform us and our Nebraska assistants right away.
Also, please provide a written statement to the Korean parents explaining the situation.
You don't have worry about it much.
Young Korean students are used to different kinds of food--pizza, steak, salad, pasta, hamburger, and spaghetti.
They may bring some spicy instant noodles along with them.
It is easy to cook and most students like, especially when they crave Korean food.
They can cook it by themselves. Also this noodle may be popular with American children who love spicy food as well.
Food is one of the things that Korean students must adapt to.
Please do not try to provide everything that they crave for.
The answer is no. The students will bring almost everything they need for the trip.
They may take a dictionary, mp3, digital camera, notebook, swimsuit, etc.
If they need anything, they can buy it with their allowance (about $200~300).
Also, the students purchase calling cards to call their parents.
About using the Internet: Please set a certain time for them to use the Internet or e-mail.
They may over-use the Internet by e-mailing to parents and friends or playing games.
